Here are
a few Chelsea facts and figures…
Around 500 orchids in full flower occupies the site with
around 200 additional foliage plants .
15 sacks of decorative moss and 6 sacks of bark will be
needed to hide the flower pots from the judges' discerning
eyes!
Our team of three will take 2½ days to stage the
display in London at the famous showground in the grounds
of the Royal Hospital.
Our plants will then have to withstand 9 days at the show
during which around 250,000 visitors will pass by.
Spare a thought for us, our feet are aching after standing
for 12 hours each day, let alone our sore throats with all
those questions!
All the orchids shown will be for sale and can be reserved
at the show for delivery afterwards or can be bought or
collected on Friday 28th May when the sell-off begins at
4.30pm. There will be lots of special plants available there
so be sure not to miss the opportunity!
After all that it only takes about 4 hours to take down
again and pack up and head for home, (usually arriving about
3am!)
It doesn't finish there as there are 2 weeks worth of orders
to be packed up and dispatched and any left over plants
to be sorted out, the fewer the better
